Misery is horror thriller novel written by Stephen King, later adapted into a film of the same name.
Misery follows Paul Sheldon, the author of the Misery Chastain novel series, and despite their success and the fortune they've brought him, he despises the series and wishes to focus on writing more serious literature. He is caught in a blizzard and crashes his car, soon rescued by former nurse Annie Wilkes, who claims to be his biggest fan. When Annie learns of Misery's death in the series' final installment, she is enraged and traps Paul in her remote house in the mountains, as he soon realises how dangerously and unhealthily obsessed she is with both him and his Misery franchise.
