Spawn is a superhero comic book series created by Todd McFarlane and published by Image Comics.
The series follows Al Simmons, a government assassin who is burned to death and sent to Hell for his crimes against humanity. Following a deal with the devil Malebolgia, Simmons is given new life as a Hellspawn and the chance to see his wife Wanda one last time. However, he is brought back to life five years after his death, is unrecognizable to his wife, and is missing many of his memories. With little other choice, Simmons adopts his new hell inspired identity as Spawn in an effort to atone for his past sins and use his newfound powers for good, taking down street gangs and organized crime in New York City.
